The Life Group ministry at Austin Bluffs is an extremely important ministry in the life of our church. Through example and exhortation, a constant thread woven throughout the New Testament is the importance of community in the walk of the believer. God intends for our Christian journey to be one in which we walk together, helping each other along as we pursue conformity to the image of Jesus Christ. Our Life Group ministry seeks to create the environment for this Biblical community to take place.

From the very beginning of the church, community was the norm (Acts 2:42-47). The early church sought to be together with fellow believers, to devote themselves to the Word of God, to prayer and to joint ministry. But not only do we have the example of the early church, but God repeatedly instructs us to be in community. Passages like Ephesians 4:11-16, Hebrews 3:12-13, and Hebrews 10:23-25 teach that we need the ministry of other people in our lives and teach that we play a significant role in the sanctification of others’ lives as well. We are called to know and be known by our fellow members and to practice the 'one another’s' within the context of the church.

Our Life Group ministry is designed to provide the environment for these goals to take place outside of the Sunday Morning experience. These weekly (or every other week) groups meet for the purpose of bringing together believers in a small group context (10-14 people) “to stimulate one another to love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:25). Each meeting is divided into three parts:

* Fellowship/Relationship Development

* Discussion of Sunday's Sermon

* Prayer

Our desire is for relationships to be formed over the 9-month Life Group season that impact the spiritual growth of those participating. Life Groups begin in September and are offered in different parts of town and on different nights of the week. You can read more about LifeGroups by visiting its ministry page on the church's website.
